Job Title:

Payroll Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Operations Manager to lead our payroll team in Victoria, AU. The successful candidate will have a strong background in payroll operations and compliance, with the ability to drive improvements and implement recommendations in response to legislation change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure overall payroll compliance within regulatory frameworks.
  • Develop and implement appropriate controls audit processes including development of necessary payroll reports.
  • Examine payroll processes to ensure they are up-to-date, legally compliant, and meet industry standards, including wages, pay rates, and tax withholdings.
  • Analyse systems, processes, and structures of existing payroll administration to identify errors and deficiencies and recommend procedure changes.
  • Communicate with business stakeholders and HR Managers to understand and manage payroll issues and concerns that may arise and help implementing payroll changes when required.
  • Work closely with the payroll operations team based in India, to drive improvements and implement recommendations in response to legislation change.
  • Collaborate with the payroll provider, to ensure they work within SLA's and provide quality services in line with requirements.
  • Provide assurance that the payroll setup is in line with statutory requirements and applicable awards.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in end-to-end payroll operations and/or payroll auditing.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret multiple industrial pay conditions.
  • Capability to think independently, suggest improvements, analyse and interpret payroll data, identify and mitigate risk, and advocate change when necessary.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Payroll operations experience within the financial services sector would be well regarded.
  • Knowledge of Workday would be beneficial.
  • Experience in working or managing remote teams will be a major advantage.
