Counsellor Job Description

We are seeking a qualified counsellor to join our multidisciplinary team at the drug and alcohol centre. As a key member of our team, you will provide generalist counselling services to clients in our residential program.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Providing evidence-informed services including psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, counselling, and other relevant modalities to clients.
  • Delivering interventions to motivate clients toward change, including harm minimisation and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Identifying, responding, and escalating significant risk factors or deterioration in clients' conditions, and developing an appropriate management plan.

About You:

  • You hold tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Social Work, Counselling) and registration with the relevant professional body.
  • You have a high level of knowledge and application of alcohol and other drugs theoretical frameworks, national guidelines, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • You possess a sound understanding of the professional, ethical, and legal requirements that underpin the treatment and clinical management of alcohol and other drug problems.
