Strategic Policy Lead

Job Opportunity:
We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our policy development efforts at the Department of Veterans' Affairs. As an Assistant Director, you will drive strategic change across the department and improve services for veterans.
About the Role:
- Prioritize and deliver high-quality written and verbal policy advice on key issues.
- Interpret and draft policy, developing new proposals to address emerging challenges.
- Prepare briefs for relevant committees, engaging external stakeholders in policy development projects.
- Draft senior executive briefings, reports, and Ministerial correspondence.
- Analyze data and research to inform technical advice in policy areas.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to seek feedback on policy projects.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Australian citizenship is required.
- All applicants must undergo a pre-engagement screening check.
Key Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of policy development principles.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Creativity in driving change initiatives.
- Able to build productive working relationships with stakeholders.
