Strategic Policy Leader for Primary Industries and Regions

The Department of Primary Industries and Regions is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager, Strategy and Policy to join our Industry, Strategy and Partnerships Division.

This senior leadership role involves overseeing a high-performing team and managing the development and delivery of strategic policy, legislative reform, and priority projects that drive growth and support South Australia's food, wine, and agribusiness sector.

Key responsibilities include leading complex policy programs, providing high-level advice to senior executives and government, and engaging with stakeholders across state and national levels.

The successful candidate will shape evidence-based policy and support the implementation of critical government priorities for primary industries and regions.

About the Role:

  • Oversee a high-performing team in developing and delivering strategic policy and legislative reform.
  • Lead complex policy programs and provide high-level advice to senior executives and government.
  • Engage with stakeholders across state and national levels to shape evidence-based policy.
  • Support the implementation of critical government priorities for primary industries and regions.

Requirements:

  • Australian residency or current works permit.
  • Out-of-hours work and interstate travel may be required.
  • Emergency management training and participation in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities.
