Job Description:

As a Legal Officer, you will provide critical support to Senior Legal Counsels and Legal Counsels in reviewing and interpreting legislation related to the Coal Long Service Leave Scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with legal teams to deliver high-quality legal advice on employer compliance under the Coal LSL scheme and implement regulatory processes.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the legislative regime governing the Coal LSL scheme and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage allocated tasks efficiently, seeking guidance as needed, and reporting progress proactively.
  • Support evidence review, conduct thorough legal research, and prepare clear memorandums and correspondence under the guidance of a Senior Legal Counsel.
  • Engage with employers and employees to address legal and regulatory issues effectively.
  • Liaise with external providers to prepare briefs, review advice, and ensure practical application of laws.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve regulatory objectives.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo working rights checks, background checks, and other assessments as necessary. These are permanent positions based in Newcastle.
