Empower young people to thrive beyond mental illness by providing specialist care for those aged 12-24 living with complex mental health needs in a supportive community setting.
This role is part of the Prevention, Early Intervention and Recovery Service (PEIRS) team, which delivers high-quality evidence-based therapy & recovery services. As a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist, you will deliver assessment, case management, and therapeutic interventions within a community setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group therapy services, medication management, and clinical assessments for young people aged 12-24.
- Coordinate care planning and case management for young people aged 12-24.
- Provide clinical advice and psychoeducation to families, carers, and key stakeholders.
- Participate in quality improvement, education, and health promotion initiatives.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support recovery outcomes.
Requirements:
- Current driver's license.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated full registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
- Significant experience and knowledge in working with children and/or young people with mental health concerns and their parents/guardians and families in a community mental health setting.
- Understanding of the principles of trauma-informed care and its application to therapeutic interventions with children/young people and their parents/guardians and family.
Selection Criteria include:
- Registered Nurse with significant experience and knowledge in working with children and/or young people with mental health concerns and their parents/guardians and families in a community mental health setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma-informed care and its application to therapeutic interventions with children/young people and their parents/guardians and family.
- Evidence of ability to build and maintain cooperative professional and therapeutic relationships with children/young people and their parents/guardians and key stakeholders through the application of well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centered care.
