Job Title: Legal Adviser

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized legal professional to join our team as a Legal Adviser.

About the Role:

  • To assist in strategizing, planning, and implementing programs and activities to promote International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
  • To monitor and analyze legislative developments in the Pacific region related to IHL.
  • To research and draft analyses, advice, and presentations in support of our regional legal adviser's activities.
  • To deliver presentations on IHL and other humanitarian issues to various audiences.
  • To liaise with academic circles in the Pacific region regarding ICRC pedagogical tools, resources, and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of IHL programs and activities.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative developments in the Pacific region.
  • Conduct research and draft reports, analyses, and advice.
  • Develop and deliver presentations on IHL and other humanitarian issues.
  • Liaise with academic circles and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Laws or equivalent degree.
  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field is an asset.
  • Knowledge of IHL and its application.
  • Experience in research, analysis, and synthesis of legal and policy texts.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
