
Regional Field Operations Specialist

Census operations managers are required to coordinate and manage the census collection activities in regional and remote areas. Using local knowledge and connections, they will oversee logistical activities and ensure the delivery of high-quality field operations.
As a key member of the team, you will lead small teams responsible for census collection activities within your area of responsibility.
Key responsibilities include:
- Project management: coordinating and managing census operations in your area.
- Team management: leading small teams responsible for census collection activities.
- Quality assurance: ensuring that census data is accurate and reliable.
- Logistical support: providing administrative support to your teams.
- Communication: connecting with the community, establishing networks, and maintaining relationships.
- Partnership building: collaborating with other census staff, local government, and community organisations.

Required Skills and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience working in project management, preferably in a field-based environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Sound local area knowledge and ability to read and navigate maps.
Additionally, you will need to have:
- A strong understanding of census operations and procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in software and systems used by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
