Key Job Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery team, comprised of technical, advisory, and capability consulting practice and major service partner to Defence.

  • Lead technical assurance and certification for narrowband SATCOM systems in the Land Domain, ensuring systems are safe, compliant, and fit for service throughout their lifecycle.
  • Align engineering activities with project requirements and division standards.
  • Manage Technical Authority assignments and ensure SQEP coverage across functions. Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and technical approvals.
  • Maintain engineering governance, standards, and compliance with Defence frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice to stakeholders and represent SATCOM Special Project Office in technical forums. Drive innovation and continuous improvement in narrowband SATCOM capabilities.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Communications, Systems, or related); Chartered Professional Engineer status or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Experience in Defence engineering, ideally in SATCOM or communications systems.
  • Proven technical authority and assurance experience in complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of Land Domain integration and engineering governance.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Systems Engineering or related field. Experience in acquisition or sustainment projects.
  • Familiarity with joint/coalition SATCOM interoperability standards. Knowledge of Land Materiel Design Acceptance and relevant Defence instructions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in innovation and mentoring engineering teams.

Australian citizenship and a minimum NV1 security clearance are required due to the sensitive nature of our work. Compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations may also be necessary.
