The role of Intake Clinician is a pivotal position within the headspace service, acting as the primary point of contact for young people accessing the service. This role plays a significant part in their continued engagement and requires high-quality assessments as well as evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to meet the individual needs of the young person.

This includes a range of modalities from brief interventions through to longer-term care for young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. As an Intake Clinician, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive mental health assessment, case management, intervention or group work as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • ">
  • Provide evidence-based low intensity and moderate intensity mental health interventions to young people aged 12 - 25">
  • Liaise with Senior Clinicians to monitor and manage client pathways, support referral triage and support transitions to other services within the community">
  • Participate in the provision of appropriate mental health education programs for health professionals, community-based services and community groups as required">
  • Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities that continually improve client care and enhance the delivery of services within a multidisciplinary team and the service">

Required Skills and Qualifications

">

To be successful in this role, you must have one of the following: General or Provisional AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Nurse OR Social Worker with AASW registration/eligibility OR Counsellor with Level 3 ACA registration or PACFA equivalent. You will also require demonstrated knowledge and skill to undertake routine clinical practice with a superior understanding within the continuum of care.
