Job Role: Environmental Sustainability Specialist

The key objective of this position is to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with environmental regulations at our iron ore hub.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Foster collaboration with contractors to guarantee adherence to their environmental plans and WA legislation.
  • Maintain continuous oversight of contractor activities, providing guidance to sustain environmental compliance.
  • Direct management of dust, noise, water, flora, and fauna on site.
  • Swiftly respond to environmental incidents, conduct thorough investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with approvals, licenses, and site management plans.
  • Deliver environmental training sessions, inductions, and toolbox talks for site staff and contractors.

Environmental Governance and Reporting responsibilities include:

  • Support ESG initiatives and reporting, aligning site practices with corporate sustainability goals.
  • Contribute to environmental planning for capital expenditures and operating expenses.

About You:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in operational mining, preferably in the iron ore sector.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing or implementing ESG programs is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of WA environmental legislation and mine approvals is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors and site teams without conflicts.
  • A degree in environmental science or equivalent is required.
