The Opportunity

BlueScope seeks a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join its Paint and Finishing Maintenance team at its Springhill - Port Kembla Manufacturing facility. As part of the Australian Steel Products portfolio, the company has several major manufacturing sites that deliver high-quality products and services to customers worldwide.

The painting and finishing department at Springhill is responsible for coating steel coils with a world-class Colorbond coating process and then packaging and dispatching them to customers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Coordinate routine maintenance work involving structural steel, walls, roofing, buildings and facilities maintenance, minor civil works, and grounds maintenance.
  • Plan and organize day-to-day maintenance and upcoming scheduled works.
  • Provide out-of-hours support to the team.
  • Identify ways to continuously improve maintenance strategies.

Requirements

  • Experience as a qualified Mechanical Fitter/Machinist or Engineering Fabrication is essential.
  • Prior experience in maintaining steel structures and buildings is preferred.
  • Proven exposure to maintenance management systems and basic computer skills is necessary.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and develop oneself in the role is desirable.
