Independent Committee Member Opportunity

Sunshine Coast Council is seeking a qualified Independent Member to join its Audit Committee, providing strategic guidance on financial, governance, risk, compliance, and audit matters. The committee meets at least five times annually.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in Audit Committees for large organisations, preferably within the public or local government sectors. Your expertise spans finance, legal, corporate systems, cybersecurity, and risk management.

You hold relevant tertiary qualifications and professional memberships (e.g., Certified Practising Accountant, Chartered Accountant of Australia and New Zealand). As an Independent Member, you will complement a capable and diverse committee by bringing deep expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Strategic asset management
  • Project management and capital project oversight
  • Information technology and cybersecurity
  • Financial management
  • Environmental, social, and governance and sustainability

To be successful in this role, you should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with council staff, external auditors, and other stakeholders.
