About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Townsville City Council team as a Senior Planning Officer. As a key member of our planning team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our city through strategic land use planning and development assessment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional advice and direction to planning officers on development assessment and project management of strategic projects associated with land use planning.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the council's goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to make informed land use and development assessment decisions.
  • Negotiate with stakeholders to balance land use outcomes for the city.
Requirements
  • Relevant degree or postgraduate qualifications in town planning or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in land use planning and development assessment.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Planning Act 2016 and associated legislation.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and strategic land use planning practices.
