We invite Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander postgraduate students to join us in pursuing cutting-edge research in science.

Our organization offers various types of postgraduate studentships:

  • CSCORE Sponsored Studentships: CSIRO provides primary scholarship stipends and top-up stipends, learning and development funding, and operational expenses for postgraduate students working on CSIRO-defined projects.
  • CSCORE-University Co-funded Studentships: CSIRO and a university co-fund primary and/or top-up scholarships for postgraduate students working on collaborative CSIRO-University projects. Funding for learning and development and operational expenses should be provided by the university or CSIRO.
  • CSCORE Supervised-only Studentships: CSIRO offers access to facilities and expertise for postgraduate students working on their PhD or Master thesis. The student is usually a recipient of an external primary scholarship or self-funded. CSIRO may provide operational expenses.

Other Postgraduate Studentship Opportunities:

  • Industry PhD (iPhD) Studentships: You undertake a PhD project identified with, and supervised by, an industry partner. The iPhD program is offered in partnership with CSIRO, a university, and an industry partner. You receive a primary scholarship stipend, top-up stipend, funds for learning and development, and operational expenses.
  • CSCORE Postgraduate Internships: University-approved internships where CSIRO supervises a postgraduate student working on a short-term CSIRO-defined project for work experience as part of their degree. Internships may be for coursework Master students completing a subject requiring an internship, and postgraduate research students undertaking a university-approved internship. You should not be engaged as a CSIRO Postgraduate Intern if you are completing research for a thesis component of your studies.
