The CSIRO is committed to increasing Indigenous participation in science and technology. We are seeking talented students who wish to pursue a postgraduate degree.

Opportunity Overview

This scholarship provides students with a supportive environment to develop their research skills and contribute to cutting-edge projects. Students will be co-supervised by CSIRO researchers and university supervisors, and have access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.

  • Scholarship Types

    There are several types of postgraduate scholarships available:

    • CSIRO Sponsored Postgraduate Scholarships: A primary scholarship stipend and/or top-up stipend, funding for learning and development, and operating expenses are provided for a postgraduate student working on a CSIRO-defined project.
    • CSIRO-University Co-funded Postgraduate Scholarships: CSIRO and a university co-fund a primary and/or top-up scholarship for a postgraduate student working on a co-funded collaborative CSIRO-University project.
    • CSIRO Supervised-only Postgraduate Scholarships: The postgraduate student has access to facilities and/or expertise to complete work that directly contributes to their PhD or Master thesis.
  • Eligibility Criteria

    The scholarships are open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people with Australian Citizenship. Successful candidates will be required to provide evidence confirming their Indigenous status.
