Indigenous Community Support Specialist

The role of Indigenous Liaison Officer plays a vital part in supporting the growth and implementation of policies, strategies, and programs to attract and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
This position engages with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to promote Caulfield Grammar's Vision, Mission, and Values.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with families, staff, students, and leadership teams to achieve the best outcomes for all stakeholders
- Provide guidance on policy development and implementation to ensure the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are met
- Focus on cultural awareness within the school community to enrich it
- Build relationships within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and at the school to support students
This is a part-time opportunity (11.5 hours over 3-4 days a week) for a fixed term of 24 months based at our campus.
Working collaboratively with various stakeholders, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding of cultural practices and traditions. They will be able to build trust with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and work effectively with them to support their children's education.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. They will be able to articulate the importance of cultural awareness and sensitivity in a school setting, as well as develop and implement effective strategies to promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student success.
Requirements:- A deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders
- Strong organizational and time management skills
