Unique Opportunity to Support Indigenous Australians

The Australian Electoral Commission's (AEC) Indigenous Electoral Participation Program (IEPP) is seeking a highly motivated and culturally sensitive Engagement Officer.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with community-level partners to identify and respond to barriers faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in relation to electoral participation.

You will be responsible for supporting team leads to engage with partners, represent and explain agency views in various forums, and collaborate and maintain relationships internally and externally.

Key requirements include:

  • Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to identify problems and resolve them

Relevant qualifications in Indigenous studies or community engagement/education are highly regarded. AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
