
Crisis Intervention Specialist

As a Family Crisis Intervention Specialist, you will work intensively with families at the point of crisis to provide short-term and intensive support addressing immediate needs.
Rapid Response is an evidence-based program where you hold a small caseload of only two families, working collaboratively with parents to set them up for success in our Future Pathways program.
A safety-focused plan is developed with child protection and the family, providing intensive in-home support to address the crisis and immediate needs identified.
The Future Pathways program uses innovative approaches, such as motivational interviewing, communication skills building, and goal setting, to respond to identified needs and achieve real and demonstrable outcomes.
Key Outcomes:
- Short term intensive support to help keep families together.
- Equip parents with a greater knowledge about their children's development.
- Assist in developing parenting strategies they can use to best meet the development needs.
- Strengthen parenting capacity to ensure child health, safety, and developmental outcomes are being met.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a therapeutic environment, ideally utilising recognised therapy practices such as CBT and motivational interviewing.
- Knowledge and experience working with families with complex needs, mental health, AOD, family violence.
- Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships and rapport with families using innovative approaches.
- Willingness to work outside of normal hours to see families together and at home.
- Ability to engage quickly and assess risk.
