About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our team at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. As a key member of our SRE team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing large-scale solutions, as well as influencing and engaging senior stakeholders on modern best practices for improving reliability throughout the SDLC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior stakeholders to lead a culture of data-driven reliability, monitoring, and automation aligned to SRE principles.
  • Design, develop, test, and support applications and systems, with a focus on managing and scaling distributed systems in a public, private, or hybrid cloud environment.
  • Create and develop tools required to support the operational management (including security) of software applications and systems.
  • Identify technology limitations and deficiencies in existing systems and associated processes, procedures, and methods, and use software engineering to develop scalable and sustainable improvements.

Requirements

  • Expertise in software engineering, with a strong background in at least one programming language (e.g., Golang, Python).
  • Strong experience with modern software development practices using tools such as git for source control, and CI/CD tools such as TeamCity, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy or similar.
  • Public cloud experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure, with a focus on observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, AppDynamics.
  • Extensive knowledge of Linux internals, networking, containers, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in applying SRE practices in large organizations and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
