Job Overview: Strategic Asset Manager

The role of a Fund Lead is pivotal in supporting the deployment, management and growth of a new global special managed account for asset management.

This position will oversee the strategic and operational activities of the managed account and its investee companies to achieve optimal financial, operational, environmental, social and governance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Investment Oversight: oversight of the managed account and within investee companies to optimise financial, operational, environmental, social and governance outcomes consistent with the account objectives and operating policies.
  2. Capital Deployment: support capital deployment through deal sourcing, due diligence, legal review, financial modelling and ownership transition.
  3. Team Leadership: lead a global cross-functional team to meet the objectives of the account and ensure high levels of well-being, morale, motivation and performance.
  4. Reporting: manage integration of company investee company reporting to meet information requirements (financial, operational, environmental, social, governance).
  5. Advocacy: contribute to global advocacy of the brand and investment strategy, influencing key stakeholders in pursuit of corporate objectives and those of fund investments.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in portfolio management and real asset management.
  • A detailed understanding of what economic, social, environmental and governance factors deliver value from investments.
  • Strong experience in strategic management of corporate plantation forestry operations, timber processing and associated financial modelling.
  • Strong commercial skills including contract management, negotiations and financial analysis.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills including strong communication across a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in transaction identification, institutional investment frameworks and asset acquisition legal documentation and due diligence.
  • Experience with tropical forestry operations and relevant tertiary qualifications highly regarded.
  • Significant experience in managing operational performance and compliance to legal and third-party standards.
  • The ability to manage forest resource description, estate optimisation and geographic information systems used to inform financial valuations and strategic plans beneficial.
  • Experience with carbon modelling and voluntary carbon standards highly regarded.
