Job Opportunity:

A high-calibre medical professional is sought to join our medical team at a Level 4 Health Facility based in the Bega Valley, part of the Southern NSW - Coastal Network.

Where you'll be working:

The facility offers emergency medicine; surgery (urology, orthopaedics, general surgery, obstetrics); acute inpatient services including a permanently staffed 6 bed ICU, subacute rehabilitation (SARU), paediatric, maternity and mental health beds; renal dialysis and oncology outpatient clinics; hospital in the home (HITH); pathology collection; pharmacy; and medical imaging (x-ray, CT and ultrasound).

Bega is a picturesque town located on the south coast of New South Wales, approximately 429 kilometres south of Sydney. It offers a range of quality private and public schools, a regional airport with daily flights to Sydney and Melbourne, and a variety of outdoor activities for all ages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based clinical services to maximise quality patient outcomes
  • Supervise and educate junior medical staff within the clinical environment to foster safe practice
  • Use clinical information systems for accurate documentation, informed decision making and care planning
  • Ensure clear and prompt communication with colleagues and health professionals as required
  • Participate in risk management, safety and quality improvement programs
  • Comply with relevant legislation, policies and procedures

Selection Criteria:

  • Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Physician
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership
  • Effective clinical communication skills through the use of technology and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement
  • Ability to participate in on-call rosters and respond timely to on-site needs
  • Understanding of and commitment to clinical governance principles
  • Commitment to customer service, workplace diversity, occupational health & safety and industrial democracy practices
