Start your career as an Apprentice Electrician in the Department of Housing and Public Works, SEQ team.

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects from housing and hospitals and ambulance stations, gaining valuable experience and skills. This is a great chance for you to develop your skills and knowledge while supporting local communities and helping people all over Queensland.

Our structured apprenticeship program offers a blend of on-the-job training with qualified tradespeople and off-the-job learning from registered training organisations.

Choose between a school-based or full-time apprenticeship and progress will be assessed against competency standards, ensuring you develop essential skills. Upon successfully demonstrating competence, you'll earn a recognised trade qualification, preparing you for a successful career.

The apprenticeship qualifications include Electrical - Certificate III in Electrotechnology.

This role requires:

  • Manual work and technical information
  • Safety protocols including proper procedures and protective equipment
  • Respect for others and planning your work to achieve results
  • Clear communication and collaboration with others

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be 15 years of age at commencement
  • Be eligible to work in Australia (permanent residency)
  • Have completed Year 10 with a pass in Maths and English
  • Be able to transport yourself and your tools to work/training sites
  • Be willing to obtain a Construction Industry White Card before starting
