Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and committed Caseworker to join our team in a part-time capacity. In this role, you’ll work closely with the wellbeing team to support vulnerable students in staying connected with their education and community.

\

The Beyond the Gates worker will be an employee of CatholicCare Social Services Hunter Manning (Clinical Services Team) but will be based at the nominated school in the wellbeing team. The purpose of this position is to support and encourage vulnerable students to remain linked up with the schools and the wider communities.

\

The role will involve community outreach and home visiting while working alongside families to enhance their engagement in services. This role extends the care and support of schools beyond the classroom, fostering positive relationships and outcomes for young people.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Commitment to work alongside the mission, vision, and values of CatholicCare\
  • Ability to effectively engage with disconnected students and their families\
  • Sound understanding of case management and case coordination and person-centred practices\
  • Good understanding of the contributing factors to various types of disadvantage\
  • Understanding of child and adolescent development\
  • Thorough understanding of the issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples\
  • Excellent communication skills with a range of diverse stakeholders\
  • Strong organisation and time management skills\
  • Excellent computer skills\
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently and as part of a team\
  • High level of motivation and commitment to achieving outcomes\
  • Willingness and ability to travel across school areas with flexible hours based on student and family needs\
  • Experience in outcomes data collection\
  • Access to use of a car with full comprehensive insurance\
  • Tertiary qualifications in youth work, social work, psychology, teaching or similar disciplines\
  • Current Working with Children Check\
  • Commitment to work within WHS guidelines\
  • Successful applicants must undergo a police check\
  • NSW Driver Licence\
