Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of rangers in the management of protected areas, including estate functions such as fire control, pest eradication, and asset supervision.
  • Develop and implement effective conservation strategies and management plans to ensure the protection and preservation of Queensland's natural heritage.
  • Collaborate with local communities, stakeholders, and government agencies to foster land stewardship, recreation, and conservation.
  • Manage public engagement and drive the Values Based Planning Framework to ensure that management strategies align with the unique needs of protected areas.
  • Administer authorities and permits, manage QPWS Estate agreements, and advance the operational goals of the Cape York Peninsula Tenure Resolution Program.
  • Lead the management of the Springvale Station Nature Refuge, implementing an effective annual work program tailored to its unique environmental and heritage values.
  • Develop and oversee protected area management systems and standards, ensuring comprehensive training is provided to the team.
  • Partner with community representatives, Indigenous peoples, and government agencies to cultivate effective area management and stakeholder engagement.
