Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is seeking an experienced Information Technology Manager to oversee and manage our IT Department.

Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel located beside Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns. With 255 guest rooms, 18 function venues, and extensive food and beverage facilities, the hotel is part of a leading international company with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide.

The Role

As the Information Technology Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of software and hardware, as well as the monitoring of network performance and data security. Your primary focus will be on improving the utilization of our information systems through liaison with management and monitoring of data input and output, ultimately enhancing our customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and maintain applications software and keep pace with upgrade versions.
• Diagnose and repair LAN hardware devices, maintain bridges, gateways, modems, and routers, and monitor network performance with network cabling.
• Perform complete daily backup of all data for storage on site.
• Maintain the safety, security, and integrity of all hardware, software, and data.
• Ensure the strict use of password controls and change passwords with regularity.
• Monitor all system software and utilities and advise the Financial Controller of relevant issues arising from same.
• Prepare the Information Systems Department annual budget in line with the strategic plan.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of information to which you are privy and be aware that failure to comply with this requirement is considered a serious breach of hotel policy and may be grounds for summary dismissal.
• Prepare and maintain Disaster Recovery contingency plans for possible emergency downtime situations and engage all necessary support functions as deemed necessary to minimize disruption of hotel function.
• Prepare and maintain a Strategic plan for the Information Systems Department and systems for the next 5 years.
• Adhere to hotel procedures relating to security and fire.

About You

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Information Technology Manager role.
• A Degree Qualified in Information Systems.
• Excellent communication skills in reading and writing.
• Experience with hotel computer systems.
• An understanding of workplace practices in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Must be available for after-hours paging 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for IS-related problems at the hotel.
