Job Title: Medical Specialist

The Calvary Mater Newcastle is seeking a skilled Medical Specialist in General Medicine, with a particular interest for those trained in Respiratory Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team and contribute to providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform clinical services for inpatients admitted under the general medicine service.
  • Participate in after-hours services and rosters in general medicine at CMN.
  • Provide clinical leadership to junior colleagues by ensuring a high standard of patient care which conforms to best practice and is evidence-based.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equity of healthcare delivery.
Requirements:
  • A Primary Medical Degree registrable with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
  • Demonstrated experience and qualification(s) in General Medicine.
  • Demonstrated capacity for clinical leadership, a commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in medicine, nursing, and allied health, and willingness to participate in clinical research.
  • Understanding of the principles of clinical governance to promote quality and safety in healthcare, with experience in and commitment to evidence-based best practice.
  • Demonstrated understanding of transfer of care and patient flow principles and ability to practice these principles to meet the needs of the community and hospital.
  • Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and proficiently in periods of high demand/activity.
