Central Australian Congress seeks an Aboriginal Family Support Worker to provide support and engagement services to vulnerable families in Alice Springs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer individualized support to families with complex needs, including domestic violence, substance abuse, trauma, and loss
  • Collaborate with local community members, extended family members, and stakeholders to promote child development and well-being
  • Maintain accurate records and data entry using computer systems for case note recording
  • Develop and implement culturally safe practices to ensure effective communication and engagement with the Alice Springs Aboriginal community

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with Aboriginal families, particularly those with complex needs
  • A strong understanding of child development, trauma, and its impact on children
  • Awareness of local Aboriginal culture and history
  • The ability to communicate effectively with the Alice Springs Aboriginal community and extended family members
  • A valid NT Driver's Licence and Working with Children Card (Ochre card)
