We are seeking a skilled Groom Artist to create high-quality hair, fur, and feather grooms for characters and creatures in high-end VFX film projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement hair/fur/feather grooms for characters and creatures using Framestore's proprietary grooming tools.
  • Collaborate closely with Creature FX simulation TDs to ensure accurate dynamics and guide hair layout.
  • Work effectively with other departments, including Modelling, Rigging, Animation, and Lighting, to ensure seamless creature workflow.
  • Produce render tests to showcase the groom's progress and ensure high standards.
  • Meet project schedules and deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality.
  • Communicate regularly with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines.

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in CG creature projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of Maya and its applications in grooming.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to deadline-oriented projects.
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in a Unix/Linux systems environment.
  • Knowledge of dynamic hair simulation or other forms of dynamics.
