Payroll Officer Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Officer to join our team at IPD Australia. The Payroll Officer will be responsible for assisting in the end-to-end payroll function, including reviewing and improving processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Processing: Reviewing, processing, and adjusting payroll payments, covering both regular and special payrolls such as fortnightly, weekly, and monthly cycles.
  • Payroll Operations: Collaborating on transitioning payroll operations for two newly acquired businesses, overseeing the integration of their payrolls into our systems.
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with payment deadlines for Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and superannuation obligations, guaranteeing timely remittance of funds.
  • Payroll Reporting: Compiling and submitting comprehensive End of Month Group Payroll Journals, encompassing various elements like wages, leave provisions, payroll tax, and superannuation, while also managing timely payroll tax lodgment.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Experience processing payroll for approximately 450 staff from beginning to end.
  • Payroll Systems: Familiarity with MicrOpay system (preferential) and Kronos time and attendance system (preferential).
  • Payroll Knowledge: Proven experience in payroll processing in a multi-site environment, applying Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements, and trained in Payroll Processing.
  • Soft Skills: Trustworthiness, self-motivation, and the ability to work autonomously while also being a strong team player, with strong customer service mindset and discretion in matters of confidentiality.
