Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares construction drawings, sketches, and test packages.
  • Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Provides technical assistance to piping and pipe testing superintendents and direct hire craft.
  • Performs piping field inspections and documents in accordance with Project ITP's, Project Procedures and Drawings, relevant international codes, and Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures.
  • Verifies field installed piping quantities through Pipefighter.
  • Responsible for the development of pressure test packages, blow/flush packages, and responsible for witnessing and verifying and acceptance.
  • Prepares field change documentation and as-built documentation as required.
  • Conducts final piping walkdowns.
  • Witnesses torque and tensioning on bolted flange connections.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Completes material receipt inspections as required.

Requirements:

  • Requires Engineering bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the construction of LNG facilities is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Bechtel Standard work processes, procedures, and standard detail drawings.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction piping installation, hydrotesting and pneumatic pipe testing.
  • Knowledge of Universal Plant Viewer is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Fighter Tools, INFOWorks or Aconex, BPS or DSCS, PTR or Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards is required.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
  • Able to work night shift and day shift when the business need arises.

Working Conditions:

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).
