Job Summary:

The Craft Supervisor – Piping is responsible for overseeing and directing operations within the Piping discipline. This role ensures that assigned construction operations and contractors' performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.

This is a FIFO role working 3:1 roster based in Karratha, WA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for Piping personnel and complete performance evaluations on direct reports.
  • Provide leadership for safety, accident, and fire prevention on the project, including safety orientation, preparation of safety procedures, and leading Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings.
  • Ensure the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
  • Monitor the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Interface with Labor/Industrial Relations for craft recruitment and training programs.
  • Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned piping operations.
  • Other responsibilities as designated.

Requirements:

  • Strong supervision experience, including the ability to lead and manage change, is desirable.
  • 8-10 years' experience in a similar role within the Heavy Industrial Field.

Preferred Skills:

  • Displays effective communication skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong experience of liaising with and coordinating sub-contractors.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.

Working Conditions:

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e., respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).
