Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Intellectual Property Partner to join our team at Hooker & Heijden. As a key member of our firm, you will play a vital role in providing expert legal advice and assistance to our clients, while contributing to our overall objectives and success.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a strong track record in intellectual property law, with a deep understanding of trademarks, copyright, data protection, privacy, brand protection, disputes, infringements, and licensing. They will also have proven leadership skills, be a team player, and be able to supervise, train, and mentor junior lawyers.

Business Development

As a Partner, you will be responsible for actively seeking new business opportunities, developing and strengthening existing client relationships, and participating in business development events and initiatives. You will also be expected to keep up to date with relevant law and legislation, undertake continuing legal education, and attend and participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminars and sessions.

Time Management and People Management

You will be expected to manage your time effectively, attend work on time, and comply with time recording expectations. You will also work in a co-operative and respectful manner with your legal assistant, other lawyers, and all staff members, and act as a role model and lead by example.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The successful candidate will be expected to meet billable hour and business development requirements, maintain up-to-date cost estimates, and prepare bills in a timely manner. They will also be expected to comply with service standards, including following all requirements regarding return of calls and other communications.

Health and Safety

The successful candidate will be expected to meet all employee responsibilities as outlined in the Health and Safety Policy and related processes, participate in training and safety initiatives, and comply with all safety directives and instructions.
