Reconciliation Advocate

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Reconciliation Advocate.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for engaging with First Nations communities in a respectful manner, facilitating partnerships between organizations and Indigenous groups, coordinating events and initiatives that support reconciliation efforts, and advocating for Indigenous rights within the organization and externally.

  • Bachelor's degree in Indigenous studies, social work, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing reconciliation efforts.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation pertaining to Indigenous rights.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for meetings or events.

This is a full-time position based in Australia. We encourage applications from individuals who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Key Responsibilities:

Developing Engagement Strategies:

The successful candidate will develop and implement strategies for engaging with First Nations communities in a respectful manner, taking into account the unique needs and perspectives of each community.

Facilitating Partnerships:

The successful candidate will facilitate partnerships between our organization and Indigenous groups, promoting mutual understanding and collaboration.

Coordinating Events:

The successful candidate will coordinate events, workshops, and initiatives that support reconciliation efforts, including cultural competency training for staff members.

Advocating for Indigenous Rights:

The successful candidate will advocate for Indigenous rights within the organization and externally, ensuring that the voices and concerns of Indigenous peoples are heard and respected.
