Job Title: Mine Controller - Entry

Job Summary:

The Mine Controller's primary objective is to ensure the safe, efficient, and smooth operation of mining fleet during and after transition to Fortex fleet management system.

This role supports Supervisor - Mine Control by managing real-time fleet performance and facilitating adoption of new system features and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control fleet operations in real-time to ensure safety, efficiency, and productivity. Address issues promptly and escalate when necessary.
  • Assist in transitioning from existing Fleet Management system to Fortex FMS system, ensuring minimal operational disruption.
  • Implement and adhere to new processes, workflows, and standards aligned with Fortex system.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance control room efficiency, focusing on shifting from active control intervention to an 'intervene by exception' model.
  • Maintain clear communication and coordination with operational and support teams to ensure alignment with site objectives and seamless issue resolution.
  • Participate in testing and commissioning of Fortex functionalities, providing feedback for system improvements.
  • Ensure accurate collection, monitoring, and analysis of operational data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Adhere to all safety standards, procedures, and regulations, ensuring control room activities meet company's safety and environmental policies.
  • Support training and development of team members in adopting new technologies and processes to enhance control room capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Tertiary qualification in a mining-related field (desired).
  2. Ability to analyze data and operational performance to identify trends and optimize processes.
  3. Strong communication skills for collaboration and providing timely updates.
  4. Confidence in making quick, informed decisions in dynamic environments.
  5. Flexibility to learn and implement new technologies and workflows effectively.
  6. Knowledge of mining processes, equipment, and autonomous mining principles, especially control room operations.
  7. Familiarity with autonomous mining principles and practices (desired).
  8. Proven ability to resolve operational challenges under pressure (desired).
  9. Strong understanding of fleet management systems and control room technologies (desired).
  10. Experience in mine control or similar roles within the mining industry (desired).
  11. Proficiency with fleet management systems like Fortex or similar platforms (desired).
  12. Experience supporting transitions or new system implementations in operational environments (desired).
