Marine Scientist Job Opportunity

CSIRO is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Marine Scientist to join their team in Hobart. As a key member of the Hydrochemistry team, you will be responsible for performing laboratory analyses of nutrients, dissolved oxygen, and salinity, as well as maintaining instrumentation and contributing to laboratory management and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will have a relevant bachelor's degree and demonstrated previous work experience in a related field such as Chemistry or Environmental Science, with an emphasis on Analytical Chemistry. They will also possess excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients, produce data reports, and document methods.

In this role, you will work collaboratively and respectfully within multidisciplinary teams, liaise with clients and stakeholders on data collection, processing, and issue resolution, and contribute to maintaining and improving laboratory management procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform laboratory analyses of nutrients, dissolved oxygen, and salinity, and maintain instrumentation.
  • Contribute to laboratory management and continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders on data collection, processing, and issue resolution.
Requirements:
  • Relevant bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science.
  • Demonstrated previous work experience in a related field, with an emphasis on Analytical Chemistry.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully within multidisciplinary teams.
