About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mathematics Teacher to join our team at a college in Melbourne's West. The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching Maths and a commitment to making a positive impact on students' lives.

This is a unique opportunity to work with students aged 15-18 in small class settings, benefiting from excellent teacher support and well-being initiatives. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive maths curriculum that aligns with The Victorian Curriculum, creating engaging and interactive lesson plans, and using various teaching methods and resources to effectively convey mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies.

The role also involves providing timely feedback to students, differentiating instruction to meet individual needs, and collaborating with other math teachers and school staff to share resources, ideas, and best practices.

Key Duties:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive math curriculum that aligns with The Victorian Curriculum
  • Create engaging and interactive lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to effectively convey mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies
  • Provide timely feedback to students on their performance and progress in math
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of students, including providing additional support or challenges as needed

The Salary for this position is estimated to be around $90,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Current VIT registration
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Secondary Maths in a school setting in Australia
  • Able to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years

The School

Teachers employ High Impact Engagement Strategies (HIES) and High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) within a Trauma-Informed and Culturally Responsive framework, encouraging students to grow as individuals.

To support staff, the College has integrated wellbeing programs that address the stresses of teaching. Teachers meet biweekly in wellbeing groups led by a clinician and can access individual sessions with the wellbeing team. Self-care plans are also developed to help mitigate stress and prevent burnout.
