Electrical Mechanics play a vital role in maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment. As an Electrical Mechanic, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and installing electrical switchgear, electro-mechanical systems and other complex equipment.

Requirements:
  • Education: A diploma or certificate from a reputable trade school or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience working with electrical and mechanical equipment is necessary.
  • Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure are essential.

Responsibilities:

  1. Read blueprints to determine work requirements and troubleshoot problems
  2. Test and observe electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment
  3. Troubleshoot and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators and other electro-mechanical equipment
  4. Replace or recondition shafts, bearings, commutators and other components
  5. Wind, assemble and install various types of coils
  6. Perform static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors
  7. Perform some machining to recondition or modify shafts, commutators or other parts
  8. Test and repair or replace faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear
  9. Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance
  10. Complete work orders, test and maintenance reports
  11. Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
  12. Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
