The Client
Bartech Switchboards Pty Ltd specializes in designing and manufacturing custom electrical switchboards for commercial, industrial, and specialized applications. They are seeking a permanent and qualified Electrical Engineering Technician to join their engineering team in Moonah, Tasmania.

The Role
This is a full-time position based in Moonah, Tasmania, with an annual salary between $77,000 to $82,000 plus superannuation.

The Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed drawings of electrical switchboard systems, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve development challenges.
  • Engage with customers to understand project requirements and present design concepts.
  • Prepare quotations, including material costs and identifying long lead-time components.
  • Ensure quotations are competitive and viable.
  • Coordinate prototyping of switchboard components, inspecting and testing for compliance.
  • Support manufacturing issues to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Oversee testing, calibration, and maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Lead repair, upgrade, and testing initiatives for cable modification programs.
  • Collect and analyze engineering performance data for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong communication within the team and across departments.
  • Provide on-site technical support for customer installations, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The Requirements

  • Qualification in Electrical Engineering or related field, or at least three years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum two years of experience in switchboard manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Experience in assembling, wiring, testing, and commissioning electrical switchboards.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Proficiency with standard electrical and mechanical hand tools.
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach.
  • Ability to work under supervision and follow directions.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Safety-conscious and team-oriented attitude.
