Construction Team Leader

This is a leadership role within the Construction Unit, where you will play a crucial part in ensuring the effective management of the Council's built environment. You will oversee the construction, maintenance, and renewal of civil infrastructure, providing direct support and guidance to a small team.

About the Role:

The Construction Team Leader is an operational leadership position, offering the opportunity to develop strong working relationships with supervisors and frontline employees. You will be responsible for undertaking labouring duties, providing technical guidance, and contributing to problem-solving and implementation of solutions.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Undertake labouring duties in road/drainage and other civil construction activities">
  • Provide technical guidance to junior or new staff members">
  • Develop strong working relationships with supervisors and frontline employees">
  • Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance to OH&S policies, legislation, regulations, and Codes of Practice">

About You:

">

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated ability to play a leading role in supervision and direction of work. You will require current Victorian Drivers license, communication skills, and experience in resolving work-specific problems. Additionally, you will need to have the ability to work to plan, manage time effectively, train junior or new team members, and provide effective leadership.

Skills and Qualifications:

You will require relevant qualifications and experience in both road and drainage construction/maintenance, as well as related activities. You must also possess knowledge of relevant safe work practices within a civil engineering environment and basic computer skills including the use of mobile devices.

Working Conditions:

">

You will be required to perform manual work, including lifting weights and manual excavation (shovelling), in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines. You will also be expected to operate Council plant, including rollers, vibrating equipment, and other minor plant and equipment.
