Support Worker in Residential Care

Our team is seeking an experienced Support Worker to join our Intensive Therapeutic Care program across residential homes in the Hunter region.

About the Role:

  • Provide individualized support to young people in developing living and life skills through social learning, social responsibility, and emotional intelligence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote a safe and supportive environment where young people can influence decisions affecting their lives.
  • Assist with household duties as required to maintain a clean and comfortable living space.
  • Participate in team environments to ensure services meet young people's needs and provide trauma-informed care.

The ITC system focuses on recovery from trauma, providing alternative care options, protecting children and young people, and offering clear pathways for permanency.

Key Objectives:

  • Deliver trauma-informed services achieving positive outcomes for young people and families.
  • Ensure safety, stability, predictability, and consistency by implementing house guidelines and individual strategies.

Requirements:

  • Diploma of Youth Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Aboriginal staff - experience and willingness to participate in cultural awareness training is essential.
  • Skills and experience in youth services, residential care, or supported accommodation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values.
  • Experience working therapeutically with children and young people who have faced significant challenges and trauma.
