About the Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Scientist to join our Blood Bank Department in our Bowen Hills laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering a training program for local and regional staff, working closely with other scientists to ensure the highest level of competency.

This is a full-time opportunity that requires previous experience in a blood bank laboratory, with a strong focus on transfusion medicine. You will be working in a dynamic and experienced team, with a range of responsibilities including:

  • Performing routine and advanced blood bank tests
  • Liaising with clients to ensure appropriate management of cases
  • Remotely assisting colleagues in regional laboratories to manage blood bank cases
  • Assisting management in delivering a training program for local and regional staff
  • Upholding quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to departmental quality system procedures
  • Complying with the occupational health and safety policy and programs to ensure personal health and safety, and the health and safety of others in the workplace
  • Satisfying the requirements of customers, both internal and external, through the provision of reliable and efficient service levels

To be considered for this position, you will need to be degree-qualified in Medical Laboratory Science or similar, with specific experience gained in transfusion. You will also need to have the demonstrated ability to work methodically and accurately while prioritising your workload, as well as being organised, having well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, and being comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a team.
