Business Advisory Services Manager

This role involves overseeing a compliance-focused portfolio comprising special purpose financial statements and tax returns for medium-sized businesses and high-net-wealth individuals. You will be responsible for supporting the professional development of team members, including participation in performance reviews, identifying training needs, and providing on-the-job coaching and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

As a Business Advisory Services Manager, you will have strong review and workflow management experience, high attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of client outcomes. While client-facing skills are valued, this role does not require a focus on advisory services or business development.

The right person will have a passion for managing and improving the delivery of core tax compliance work and supporting the Partner in maintaining high service standards.

You will be a highly organised team player with the ability to build relationships with the team. You will take initiative and ownership, operating as a self-starter who follows through and sees tasks to completion with minimal supervision.

Additionally, you will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • CA or CPA qualified, with a minimum of 8 years' experience in public practice or demonstrated capability in a similar client-facing manager role within business services.
  • Strong technical expertise in accounting and taxation, including preparation and review of financial statements, income tax returns, and working knowledge of indirect taxes (GST, FBT).
  • Proven experience in reviewing work and providing effective feedback.
  • Thorough understanding of tax compliance obligations for individuals, companies and trusts, with the ability to manage a wide-ranging portfolio.
  • Well-developed skills in delegation and workflow management.
  • Proficient in Xero and MYOB, with strong working knowledge of associated tax and workpaper tools.
