Job Summary

A Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Fitter is required to join our team at Penrith.

The role involves handling routine services, repairing body work, hydraulics and urgent breakdowns to ensure clients stay on the road.

During quieter periods in the service department, you'll support the production and parts team in the workshop, applying your mechanical expertise to assist with various tasks.

You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on heavy vehicle truck bodies.

Key responsibilities include diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical faults and body-related issues, ensuring timely and effective repairs to minimise downtime.

Additionally, you will repair and replace worn or damaged components such as body panels, hoists, toolboxes, brackets and chassis-mounted accessories.

Inspect, service and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, hoses, rams and fluid reservoirs—experience with hydraulic systems is highly regarded.

Install and modify hydraulic systems and fittings to suit specific vehicle applications or customer requirements.

Collaborate with engineers, electricians and other workshop staff to complete build or repair jobs in line with project timelines.

Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and work orders related to body structure and hydraulic installations.

Maintain accurate service records and job documentation, including parts used, work completed and time taken.

Adhere to safety and quality standards, ensuring all repairs and modifications meet compliance and customer expectations.

Operate hand and power tools, lifting equipment and diagnostic instruments safely and effectively.

Support continuous improvement by identifying and reporting recurring faults, potential design improvements and opportunities for better maintenance practices.
