
Truck Body Repair Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Fitter to join our Service team at Penrith.
As a skilled mechanical fitter, you will handle both routine services and repairs on heavy vehicle truck bodies, including water trucks, vacuum trucks, tilt trays, and service vehicles.
You will diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults and body-related issues, ensuring timely and effective repairs to minimise downtime.
Repair and replace worn or damaged components such as body panels, hoists, toolboxes, brackets, and chassis-mounted accessories.
Inspect, service, and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, hoses, rams, and fluid reservoirs—experience with hydraulic systems is highly regarded.
Install and modify hydraulic systems and fittings to suit specific vehicle applications or customer requirements.
Collaborate with engineers, electricians, and other workshop staff to complete build or repair jobs in line with project timelines.
Maintain accurate service records and job documentation, including parts used, work completed, and time taken.
Adhere to safety and quality standards, ensuring all repairs and modifications meet compliance and customer expectations.
Operate hand and power tools, lifting equipment, and diagnostic instruments safely and effectively.
Support continuous improvement by identifying and reporting recurring faults, potential design improvements, and opportunities for better maintenance practices.
Key Responsibilities:

Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a mechanical fitter on heavy vehicles.
- HR Truck licence.
- Forklift license an advantage but not essential.
- Fault Finding experience.
- Have an organised approach to work procedures.
- The ability to work as part of a team.
- Be adaptable to challenging situations and changing business demands.
- A keen eye for detail, quality, safety and cleanliness.
- Honesty and reliability.
