**Job Opportunity**

A project manager specializing in cost efficiency is required to support critical programs delivering in-service vessels as part of Austal's sustainment operations.

The role involves managing all aspects of cost control to ensure assigned defence vessel programs meet clients' expectations.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing project budgets, tracking expenditures, analyzing project data, and identifying trends and areas for improvement.

Collaboration with project managers and other stakeholders is essential to gather and verify project progress and actual disbursement.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for generating regular project status reports to review cost performance and facilitate data-driven decision-making among project teams, stakeholders, and management.

Additionally, they will track changes to project scope and budget, assess impacts, obtain approvals, and ensure changes are properly documented and communicated to stakeholders.

Other key duties include conducting target cost estimates, escalation calculations, and financial true-ups to support annual contractual requirements, as well as identifying and recommending cost-saving opportunities.

Effective stakeholder management and communication skills are crucial to inform stakeholders of status, issues, impacts, risk, and change.

The ideal candidate will have intermediate competency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting, hold a construction safety induction (white card), and possess excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management ability.

Desirable qualifications include a qualification in cost management and/or project management, a degree in engineering, commerce, business, project management, or a related field, and professional certifications such as PMI, AACE, PSP, or PMP.
