Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Infrastructure Specialist to design, implement, and manage infrastructure that supports digital services.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of ICT platforms and provide expert advice on their management and maintenance.

They will collaborate with key third-party suppliers to ensure the provision of a robust gateway infrastructure capability for our organization, and liaise with architecture and shared services areas to ensure the security of day-to-day technical operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Evaluation: Design/evaluate/implement infrastructure requirements to meet future infrastructure demand.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert technical support for project build, test, and solution deployment activities.
  • Documentation: Prepare, review, and maintain documentation which may include design documentation, implementation plans, test plans, and support procedures.
  • Strategy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of strategies, operational policy, and procedures, and change initiatives.
  • Change Management: Participate in change management process and communicate the end-to-end implications of configuration changes.
  • Technical Advice: Provide detailed, specialist technical advice, including strategic advice to senior executives.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Proactively share knowledge and expertise as the subject matter expert, and aid and mentorship to less experienced colleagues.
  • Research and Recommendations: Undertake research on emerging technologies and provide recommendations on product suitability for our organization.
  • Interagency Collaboration: Engage and partner with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability.
  • Continuous Improvement: Encourage innovation, continuous improvement, and manage and support change and influence and contribute to ICT strategy resolving conflicts as needed.
  • Infrastructure Management: Manage the operation of backup, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions for IT systems.
  • Patch Management: Manage the regular maintenance of patches and support packages for all technical layers.
  • Network Administration: Manage the administration and operation of the Gateway network kit.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, management, and maintenance of internet gateway and/or large-scale data centre networking environment.
  • Demonstrated experience and technical proficiency in the design of services utilising F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with Palo Alto firewalls and IPS Solutions, VPN technologies, email, and DNS (Infoblox) Solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and integration of hybrid and public cloud services, development, and maintenance of system architecture and design documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual, and Essential Eight.
