Job Overview:

This role plays a pivotal part in spearheading initiatives that ensure employer readiness for employing individuals with disabilities. The Disability Inclusion Lead will champion disability inclusion and raise awareness amongst staff, fostering an environment where all employees feel valued, empowered and included.

About the Role:

  • The successful candidate will develop and implement resources, processes, policies, procedures, and guidelines to make our workplace more accessible and inclusive.
  • They will design and deliver training programs to educate staff on the benefits and best practices of hiring people with disabilities.
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders, including other departments, is essential to integrate inclusive practices into recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, and retention processes.
  • Regular engagement with key project stakeholders, including partner organisations and disability advocacy groups, is crucial.
  • Mechanisms for gathering feedback from stakeholders, such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups, will be designed and implemented.
  • Meetings and workshops will be organised to discuss progress and address challenges.
  • Regular reports will be prepared and presented.

Requirements:

  • A proven track record of implementing diversity and inclusion practices and policies.
  • Background or experience in disability employment services is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of and/or experience working in disability or similar sectors is necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building and maintenance.
  • Program or project experience is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills are required.
  • Good conceptual and problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Advanced communication skills, including influencing and report writing.
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet conflicting deadlines, along with excellent time management skills.
