
Professional Insurance Claims Specialist

Job Title: Senior Claims Handler
We are seeking a skilled professional to manage claims from initial notification to resolution, ensuring compliance with company and client guidelines and protocols. The ideal candidate will have experience in an insurance, claims or legal environment, managing general and/or product liability claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ownership and management of your own claims' portfolio.
- Processing new insurance claims notifications and assessing whether preliminary investigations are required.
- Collaborating with insurers to report and seek authority on claims outside of delegated authority limits.
- Analysing documentation and evidence to establish whether the policy conditions are satisfied.
- Investigating any potential fraudulent claims activity.
- Advising clients on the best claims strategy for their desired outcome.
- Ensuring all claims data and documents are accurately recorded in our system.
- Proactively managing claims to ensure the best outcome is achieved quickly for our clients and their customers.
- Instructing external specialists as required and ensuring they adhere to service level agreements.
- Preparing an estimate of costs and ensuring accurate reserves are held with updates to the client on material changes.
Requirements:
- A legal qualification or general insurance experience, particularly knowledge of key processes.
- Enthusiasm and the ability to deliver high-quality services.
- Confidence when dealing with people from all walks of life, while acting with compassion and delivering the best outcome for our clients.
- Good analytical, negotiation and strategic decision-making skills.
- Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands.
- The ability to work as a team and share knowledge with colleagues.
- A commercial mindset.
- Good IT literacy and computer skills.
- Excellent written communication skills with experience in internal and external referrals and reporting.
