Our client, a prominent global financial institution, is seeking to engage a Financial Controller for a critical 6-month contract.

The team plays a vital role in all facets of Legal Entity reporting, encompassing statutory financial statements, regulatory compliance, internal management reporting, and adherence to local GAAP accounting standards.

The responsibilities of the team include oversight, analysis, and effective communication regarding the legal entities under their purview. Additionally, the team manages the external audit process.

Key Contributions:

  • Provide comprehensive oversight for the designated legal entity, serving as the primary Finance contact.
  • Deliver financial analysis and insights pertaining to the assigned legal entities.
  • Effectively communicate results and issues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Coordinate with internal and external audit teams.
  • Prepare and produce regulatory reports.
  • Support Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Income Tax matters.

Responsibilities:

Statutory Financials:

  • Act as a key contributor to the annual financial statements process for assigned entities.
  • Collaborate with and review outputs from the offshore team.
  • Participate in centralized audit processes as required during year-end audits.

Reporting & Tax:

  • Contribute to monthly reporting by:
    • Working alongside the country controller to oversee results for specific legal entities during month-end close, addressing and resolving issues as they arise.
    • Reviewing variances to provide meaningful analysis of various aspects of the legal entity financials.
    • Reviewing and approving certain month-end journal entries.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly board pack reporting.
  • Generate reporting analysis for a diverse range of stakeholders, including the board of directors and internal management, in support of regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure timely production of regulatory reports for relevant authorities.
  • Monitor liquidity levels of the Australian branch and provide reporting on this aspect.

Governance:

  • Maintain necessary process documentation.
  • Oversee payment processes and accounts payable.
  • Engage in ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Qualified accountant (CPA/CA).
  • Experience in financial services or banking accounting.
  • Proficient in producing regulatory reports.
  • Familiarity with GST, FBT, and Income Tax is desirable.
  • Exposure to general ledgers is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated motivation, adaptability, flexibility, and proactivity.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey key messages effectively.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across Finance and the broader organization.
  • Able to navigate within a complex global organization.
